Drink more alcohol, it’s good for you!

From Reuters:

LONDON (Reuters) – Spanish research appearing to show that very heavy drinking can reduce men’s risk of heart disease has come under fire from scientists who say the study is flawed and should not encourage anyone to drink more.

The controversial study found that men who drank moderate, high and very high levels of alcohol had a lower risk of coronary heart disease.

People were classed as non-drinkers, former drinkers, low, moderate, high and very high drinkers. The latter drank more than 90 grams of alcohol a day, equivalent to around a dozen drinks. Following the patients for 10 years and mapping the number of coronary problems they had, the researchers said the overall results for men showed that drinking alcohol cut the risk of heart disease by 30 percent, and that heavy drinking cut the risk even more than moderate drinking.

“Spain is the world’s third largest producer of beer and wine and its per capita consumption of alcohol places it sixth in the world. But it also has one of the lowest death rates from coronary heart disease in the world,” the researchers wrote.

More alcohol = healthy heart.  Now there’s a statement I can get behind.  Seriously, who wouldn’t want to be the healthiest slosh at the party?  All the more reason to listen to the podcast for our weekly alcohol reviews.  We’re doing our part to promote a healthy lifestyle.  Screw canola oil and tofu.  Have another beer and live an extra day!

Notes: This is our best show to date, and considering the stellar quality of our first three shows, that was no easy feat.  Interesting facts about Goldman Sachs, a really good tequila, and great music from Leechmaster.

Fire truck runs over old lady, keeps on going

From Gizmodo:

Who says the Google Street View cars are a menace to society?  So what if they invade your privacy.  Really.  Plus, who can deny all the pics of people passed out in their yards or peeing in the street are funny?  This time the magic Google car picked up a fire truck mowing down an old lady on her bike… and it kept on going.  Probably not so funny in theory, until you view the interact street map thing with the before and after sequence of pics, then it becomes a riot.  Just click through the link below.

This episode was experimental.  Some new equipment, extreme time constraints, and my sound effects weren’t working.  I spent way too much time in post-production editing, but it’s what we do to try to put on a quality show.  Believe it (or not).

Further developments in the Balloon Boy hoax

It’s true!  There really wasn’t a boy in that flying saucer….

Ferocious….. or funny?

What is that girl looking at?  I vote “The Grim Reaper”

Just a note: that girl’s head could totally fit in that dog’s mouth.  Serious.

This guy is nuts

From The Telegraph UK:

Apparently this guy, Amos Nachoum, is a photographer and scuba guide.  He was off the coast of Guadalupe, Mexico when he came across this here Great White shark.  The article says the shark is about 14′ long, which is about 13′ 11″ longer than any shark I’d ever want to encounter.

Say_Cheese

If I saw that swimming at me, it would have been “zero to shit-my-pants” in less than 2 seconds.

Courageous_or_just_dumb

Gives you some perspective on the sheer size of this guppy.  According to Mr. Nachoum, “These sharks aren’t the ferocious creatures we see in Jaws”.  Apparently he doesn’t read the paper or has never visited Australia or South Africa.  These things literally fly out of the f***ing water!

Say_ahhh

Mr. Nachoum also states he has a “100 per cent safety record”.  Is that 100% good safety or 100% not so good?  Do missing limbs count as bad or good?

This is why I stay away from the ocean.  Well, that and the fact that the ocean is, you know, polluted.  There are things in nature that are meant to be left alone, and if all of the documented cases of shark attacks aren’t proof enough to stay the hell away from them, then I say let nature feed off the dumb ones….

Episode 2 is done and ready for your listening displeasure.  No alcohol review this week, didn’t want any run-ins with the popo since they were out in full force in the neighborhood. We also got some mic and EQ problems fixed that were present in the first episode.  Overall, it’s closer to good than the first one!

I’m going to try to get each episode published by Sunday evening.
