January Contest

I mentioned in Episode 11 that we are giving something away in January, and every month this year, and here it is: $50.00!  We would much rather send the winner a bottle of booze that we’ve featured on the show, but there’s some laws that say we can’t, so the next best thing is some cash for you to go buy your own bottle of Elijah Craig bourbon or Milagro tequila.

So here’s how to win: listen to Episode 13 of the About Nothing Show podcast for a hidden code word.  You’ll know it’s the secret code word because we’ll say “the secret code word is ……” got it?  Send an email to aboutnothingshow@gmail.com with that secret code word and your name and the country you live in.  We’ll pick a winner at random during Episode 15 and that person gets $50.00.  It’s that simple!

- Shareholder sues Goldman Sachs over pay and bonus amounts
- Information about potentially dangerous chemicals hidden and protected by the US government

Intro music: “Anhelos” by Leechmaster
Outro music: “8-bit Junkie” by George Wood

Notes:  Welcome to 2010, or is that “oh ten”?  Either way, it’s a new year but the same old BS in the financial news.  Cracker and Kickass stop by and Cracker opens up and shares a feeling or two [sob] <g> -_-. We’re also back to a 1 hour show after doing some extended shows in December just for the hell of it.  After the onslaught of bourbon whiskey, we kick back this week with a free-for-all, so we did a mini review for Sauza tequila, Coors Light, and Newcastle Ale, but next week it’s back to the normal review.  Featured bands this week are The Baboons, a psychobilly band from Belgium and Chromium ZA, a modern metal band from South Africa.  Enjoy!

Free stuff

Yep, you read that right.  Even though it’s a tough economy and we are both riding the wave of financial misfortune like so many others, we’re giving stuff away.  Not second-hand or re-gifted stuff either!  We will be making an announcement during the next show (Episode 11) about a contest we are putting on and we’re giving away some cool prizes.  So listen to Episode 11 for all the details.

Notes:  So long 2009, don’t let the door hit you on the way out!  We do a quick wrap-up of some of the topics we covered this year and cover a few new articles from the past week.  It’s open season on corporate criticism in this episode, and we don’t hold anything back.  We bring in Elijah Craig bourbon whiskey to go bottom’s up against Maker’s Mark and the winner is crowned as the Bourbon Whiskey Champion of 2009.  This was a fun show, and at just over 1 hour 20 minutes, it’s also the longest.  We’re looking forward to an awesome new year…. there’s always plenty of bullsh*t to talk about.
